Unwind Pt. 3 Transit

  • In the course of the book, Connor and Risa get separated from Lev, who travels for a time with another character. Why do you think Shusterman chose to split the narrative into two distinct threads? What do you think this achieves? How does this affect the evolution of the characters?
I think he chose to split up the novel because it makes the reader think about what is going on more and it also shows the personalities of these characters. This gets shown because Lev ended up snitching on Risa and Connor. In my opinion Shusterman doing this got me thinking about the store that little bit more than i was before because it makes me think back to what happened previously with the character i am reading about. I think this effects the characters evolution because them being split up affects the chemistry between the characters but also the reasoning behind why they got split up because Lev was the one that snitched which made Connor and Risa have to run to somewhere safe.
  • On p125 & 129  the novel touches on same-sex relationships. Has the attitude toward same-sex couples changed (for better or worse) in this futuristic society? Explain your response.
I think they have changed this for the worst because on page 125, it was hinted at that Cy-Fi had two fathers instead of a mum and dad and then on page 129 it goes over the fact that after Heartland war, they made same sex marriage illegal which in my opinion is a wrong thing to do.
  • P130 begins our journey into understanding a little more about Cy-Fi. Through his character, what do you learn about the effects of unwinding on both the donor and receiver?
Well being a receiver for body parts comes with things like you might have muscle memory from the person beforehand dependent on the body part or you might have different thoughts about things or urges to do things. As shown with Cy-Fi.
  • What is the real reason Cy-Fi need to get to Joplin, Mo? Pg 131
Because of the voice that is in his head that is telling him to go there.
  • What is the significance of Connor holding in his anger around Roland? Pg 147
Because Roland is trying to get Connor to swing at him so then he has a reason to kill him without Roland getting in trouble. So if Connor doesn't react to it and keeps his temper down, he is potentially keeping his life because Roland doesn't have a way to cover up a murder.
  • Connor's anger and lack of impulse control is often a problem for him, until he learns to control and channel his emotions. Do you ever feel like your impulses are stronger than your will? What strategies do you use to control your feelings? Do they work?
When this is happening with me i usually go outside and play football or i go to the skate park and scooter for a bit because those are two things i find calming. But if i don't have them as options i isolate myself before i get to bad.

My ancient egyption timeline and essay.

Ancient Egyptians have been the inventors of many different contraptions. They invented the lighthouse which they made white so it was able to be seen from a far distance. They made the sundial to use to determine the time

Egyption technology in 3000bc has changed so much over time. This matters because it has changed by making it so much easier to make and it is able to be made in different countries because they have all the correct resources for it. It has also made our world so much easier.  An example of this is paper. Paper has evolved so much over time. Back in the ancient egyption times, they used this thing called a papyrus plant to use as a type of paper to write on. Comparing that to this time period where we have paper made of things like trees , wrags or even grasses.  Paper these days is so much more practical because you can buy them in much bigger packages. So paper has evolved so much from the egyption times and it has become a lot more practical and easier to get but the idea they had to use the papyrus plant to make a type of paper was really smart.

Paper is only one of the things that the egyptians have made.
