Boat Problems (DRAFT)

Boat Problems
“Come on! start already.” We were not wanting this problem, but of course it had to happen today. Ooo and by the way I am talking about my grandads boat. It just doesn't want to start. I could see this coming from a mile away.

We finally get the boat to start, only after like, half an hour (30 minutes) of flooding, choking the engine and using starter fluid. We hook the truck up to the trailer so we can take it down to the marina to set sail onto the Cook Strait, so we could go and fishing and hopefully catch some snapper. But don’t worry we still had more horrible luck coming, like right now. As grandad pulls out onto the other side of the road while we are waiting for my auntie and her boyfriend, I realised one of the trailer tires are flat, great more problems. Grandad isn’t happy already, you can hear it in his voice. He has to walk back across the road to get the air compressor so we can pump up the tire. But with that we need an extension cord running from the bathroom power socket, leading halfway up the driveway, so we can plug the air compressor in and pump up the tire on the other side of the road. That only took us around another 5-10 minutes so that worked magnificently, NOT.
This day is as bad as my dance moves.

Ok finally, we drive down to the marina to launch the boat, also no more problems, so far. It only took us like 10 minutes to figure out how to launch the boat but we got there in the end. By the way the Picton marina is a dazzling place. There are lots of fish and some huge stingrays gliding on the bottom looking for food. In the mirena there is a bridge that goes over the entrance and exit of the marina. There is also a glorious view from on top of that bridge, where you can see the Interislander and the Bluebridge going in and out of the sounds. As we cruise out of the marina going underneath the bridge we have to slow down because there is a no wake zone by a walkway surrounded by medium sized rocks.

Once we are past the no wake zone we got up to the revs we needed to get to our destination on time which is on the Cook Strait behind a Colossal sized rock poking out of the water. We are about ½ way there and still no dolphins because I have never seen a dolphin in person but we were going through a bloom of jellyfish, to be honest it was a great sight. A little bit further we saw a penguin. Just before we went out on the cook strait auntie had to go toilet so we went to the whaling station so she could go toilet. We slowly cruised in and then it sounded like we hit something, something pretty big. I started to panic, No Surprise. The first thing grandad and gary checked was the engine, it was. Luckily we had a spare little yamaha engine that we could use, it was as slow as a snail, it only took 5 minutes to get into the whaling station. We had a look around the whaling station and all the big machines that the people used to collect everything they needed from the whales. We walk back to the boat and have a snack and a drink and then we walk around the station again and up the stairs. To see what wailes and what the equipment was called.

Grandad and gary gave up in the end so we were going to head back using the yamaha engine.

Too be continued...

Trip to Cromwell

Trip to Cromwell

On the 2nd week of the school holidays my family and I went to Cromwell.  One of the reasons for  going down there is because of our Grandma, she had a birthday. We also went down to see other members of our family. This family was new to me because they are my step-Dad’s family.

Ok here comes the boring part. The 1st thing we had to do is the 7 hour drive to Cromwell. We got on the road at 8:00 am. We didn’t do much in the car, all we did was talk about what we would do 1st when we got to Cromwell. We also ate and had some 350 mill fizzy drinks. We did  that until we got to Geraldine. We had a little break and then we drove non stop to Cromwell with a few photo opportunities on the way.  At about ½ the way there I started feeling sick.  We got to some swervy roads and it didn’t help that we were stuck behind a tourist all the way and then on the hill I threw up and all I could taste was vomit, at that point we had 30 minutes until we got there. When we were going around the lake (Lake Dunstan) we could see Cromwell, we all got excited. We arrived and got all of our bags out of the car and took them inside of the house we were staying in, we had 2 hours until we had to go again.

We had a good 2 hours and then we had to go to someone else's house for dinner. We had a barbeque, meat and salad with doritos. We went home and went to bed.

It was day 2 in Cromwell. We had a beautiful view of the mountains with snow on them and we had a beautiful garden outside too. It was 8:00 am and we were having breakfast because we were going to see our Grandma. It was a 5 minute drive to get to where she was staying. It was a pretty interesting drive because of the view and a lot of awesome stuff on the side of the road. My Grandma lived in a retirement home. We went inside and walked all the way to the other side of the retirement home and there she was sitting in front of the doorway. She was looking better than ever she was less forgetful as last time. But the main reason we were there because our Grandma was having a birthday. We brought her a present with battery powered candles and some body wash.  It was great that we could see her but we had to go otherwise we couldn't get to the next activity.

Our next activity was go karting. Everyone was excited, this is what we wanted to do when we heard that we were coming down to Cromwell. We booked a time and it was in 2 minutes until we had to get our gear on and be on the track, so we had to sprint down the hill. Everybody made it down the hill in time and we went through the safety check and then we were on the track. We had 10 minutes out on the track. Everyone was on a single go kart but my Stepdad was on a go kart with my little brother Bryce. I got 9 laps completed and my sister Hannah-mae got 7. My best lap time was 56.20 seconds and my sister got 59.0. Seconds. We finished up on our last lap and we found out our final result. 2 people we didn’t know got 1st and 2nd and I got 3ed. We had a lot of fun and we are looking ford to next time we go down.

Now we went to explore the Highlands Motor Sport park and decided what we can do next. We decided the next thing what we would do, we were going to go on a safari ride around the edge of the Motor sports professional track. The ride was teaching us about dinosaurs and there was a playground and frisbee golf at the end of the ride. It was a wonderful experience and we had a lot of fun.

We went home and we relaxed for the rest of the day and we had an early night but we can't wait for the next experience tomorrow.

The next morning we explored the shops in the middle of town. It was pretty boring but we had fun watching the little creek that went through the middle of the path. It was around midday at this point so we went to the bakery and got some lunch. It was pretty good, I had a pie and a piece of lollie cake. We went to Mini Golf after that and we went around the course, on one of the holes I got a hole in one and one of the corsairs had water in it. We all had a good time on the last day and we hope we can come back down soon.

It was a fun time going down there but we had fun. We all loved it but we had to go. Our last stop on the way home was lake tekapo. It was a beautiful scenery and it was a good choice for pictures.

First draft

My mistake
On one beautiful sunny summer day,  me and my bask were swimming around by the river bed, and resting under the sun, splashing around and making mischief with my friends, in the river, and then my mum called me, so I went home.  i was feeling lucky but I don’t know why, but I felt like something exciting was going to happen, something that involves animals.

Then I heard something, a roar  from a lion.  I poked my head up above the water and peered around. there were lions chasing buffalos, The lions caught a buffalo, a baby buffalo. it was amazing, I knew something cool was going to happen today.  I heard a splash, the baby buffalo was in the water and so where the lions. It was time for me to attack. I swam up to the river bank, but then i noticed something. The buffalo and the lions were up on the bank. I jumped out the water and latched onto the calf, Then I pulled for my life. I could taste the calf's juicy meat, and I could smell the victory. The lions were fighting for the meal, I could feel them tugging. I couldn’t hold on, my strong teeth and jaw wasn’t strong enough, me vs 5 lions, that isn’t fair.  So I just gave up and I let the lions finish the feast.

I was so devastated, I just let my meal go to a stupid pride of lions.  But I am joyful that the fight is over because I was about to lose my good hunting tooth. My mum will not be happy, but that is how life works.  I am so lazy, I need to get stronger, well off I go, to have more fun.

Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 8.11.07 AM.png
The lions have spotted the Buffalo and are crouching down and camouflaging so the Buffalo don’t see them.
The Buffalo have spotted the lions running at them and have started to run away.

The lions are running after the calf because the calf is the slowest and the weakest.
The lions have caught the calf by diving onto it into the water with it and then a crocodile came along and he then it turned into a game of Buffalo tug a war.
All of the Buffalo have found the lions and have started to try and take the calf away from the lions.

The Buffalo have charged at the lions and some of the lions have run away.

The Buffalo have got there calf back from the lions and are charging.
The lions are backing off from the buffalo because the Buffalo are charging at them.

WW1 Diary Entry

W.A.L.T describe what life was like for men and women in WW1 through a diary entry.

1st September 1915

I hate this experience.  In France the days are getting longer and the population is getting smaller, rows and rows of us are getting sent over the top by the general, he can’t see what’s  happening so all he’s doing is sending us to our own death.  The Germans are using their machine guns, Bang! snipers are taking people out person after person, they are placing landmine that are blowing up our trench.
Our food is terrible dry biscuits and plum jam is all we have to survive flies are pesky and the lice and ticks are a big problem. Trench foot can lead to amputations because we can’t take off our boots.  This isn't the adventure that they promised it would be. This is a flaming hell.  I hope my family is doing ok.

Your Sincerely

Aiden
