SCIENCE

For our last science theme we have been working on states of matter. During this topic we went over a few different experiments and different work pages. In this I am going to explain one of the experiments we did and my opinion about that experiment.

Last week one of our experiments were a dry ice experiment. For this we got a piece of dry ice and put it into a beaker, After that what we did is we put a little bit of water into that beaker.  During this process it show something called sublimation which is a stage from a solid going straight to a gas because there is no such thing as liquid carbon dioxide which is what dry is is made of. As it goes into the water instead of it melting it just makes a very cold gas and it flows down because it is less dense than normal air. When we put dry ice into our beaker, our one bubbled up Because there was a little bit of dish soap in out beaker and it reacted with the water like it does and the carbon dioxide made it bubble up and when we popped the bubbles a little bit of the carbon dioxide gas was released.

Have you done this before? And if you have what was your outcome?

A Bad Mistake...

Me and my friends, Cole and Rojan, wandering through the graveyard it felt like something was watching us. I didn't really take notice of it though. We find a spot in the middle of this cemetery, we all sat down, and we prepared ourselves for what we were going to play.

It was about 2:30am  and darkness surrounded the cemetery. We all knew that there was a little forestry behind the cemetery but it was out of vision because none of the lights around the cemetery worked.  We got the game out of my bag and just seeing the name of the bored sent chills down my spine because i had seen many videos about this game and they all seemed too work and some of them went very bad. We started the ritual as we were meant to. We circled the playing check around the bored, Asked if anyone was there, and waited.

To be continued....

English

In English today we had two different options about what we could do. We could either write about what we did in the holidays or we could write a made up story using a card with a picture on it and a challenge card. The picture i got was some trees on fire and the challenge card i got was a tricky structure card. The tricky structure card insisted on me starting a sentence with the final word of the last sentence. Here is the story have written.

Once upon a time there lived a cat named cat. Cat was Living in a remote house on a hill with another cat. Cat the cat and her roommate the cat were cooking and then they lagged and there house caught on fire. FIRE FIRE! They Screeched as they were trapped in their house and all of the forestry behind them. As the quiet lovely hillside behind them burst into a gigantic ball of fire, Cat the cat and her roommate the cat were left for dead.

Science

A while back in science we were doing an experiment about states of matter. For this we got into groups and we had to do the following and capture our results.

Aim : To observe water as it changes state from solid to liquid then gas.
Equipment: A 250mL Beaker, Thermometer, Bunsen burner, Heat proof mat, Tripod and gauze mat, Stopwatch, Retort stand and clamp, Ice.
Method:

  • Collect enough ice so that your beaker is half full and place the thermometer into it while you set it up the rest of the equipment.
  • Set up the retort stand and clamp alongside the tripod and gauze mat.
  • Place the beaker of ice on the gauze mat and gently clamp the thermometer so that it is held upright and the scale is easy to see. The bottom of your thermometer should be low enough to still be covered by the water when the ice melts, but not touching the bottom of the beaker.
  • Record the initial temperature of the ice in the data table below.
  • Light the bunsen burner and start timing with the stopwatch.
  • Measure and record the temperature every minute.
  • Continue measuring and recording the temperature until the water has been boiling for 2-3 minutes.
I found this experiment very interesting and it was fun to do.
How did it work out for you?

Art

What are concepts and what are developments? Why is this important in artwork?
A concept is a drawing of what you are going to paint and this is important because it gives you a visual plan of what you are going to paint. Developments are Important in painting because it makes your work pop and makes some areas stand out more than others.

How have you used colour theory in your work?
i have used colour theory in my work by making some gradience and adding complementary color's into our work.

Te Reo

Today in Te Reo we were adding more to our story's. Today we were adding a way of transport and how our character moved around. here is what i have come up with for two of my characters.

I pekepeke a Jeffrey - Jeffrey Jumped

I hikoi a Kerehi - Kerehi (grace) Walked

Te Reo

Today in Te Reo we were telling each other our story's. What we did is we made our story's last week and we had to learn it over the weekend and then tell each other it today. I found this difficult because We weren't allowed to use our device or book to read off of it. Another reason is because we were pressured because we had to speak a language we weren't used to and we had to tell people that were used to it. I found it fun because it was something different that we haven't done before. My story is about a fat pig named Jeffery.
